QNX Software Systems (Ottawa, Canada)
has released the QNX® Neutrino®
RTOS Secure Kernel v6.4.0, which has
been certified to the stringent security requirements
of the Common Criteria ISO/IEC 15408
Evaluation Assurance Level 4+. The certification
to Common Criteria EAL 4+ indicates that
the QNX Neutrino RTOS Secure Kernel
exceeds the assurance requirements required
for EAL 4. To earn EAL 4 certification, a product
must be methodically designed, tested, and
reviewed to the highest commercial standards.
The “+” indicates that the certification extends to QNX Software
Systems’ vulnerability remediation process.
The QNX Neutrino RTOS Secure Kernel
implements symmetric multiprocessing
(SMP) and bound multiprocessing (BMP)
for multi-core processors. The multi-core
RTOS also supports adaptive partitioning,
which is an efficient form of time partitioning
that prevents malicious code and
denial-of-service (DoS) attacks from monopolizing the CPU. Ideal for defense, industrial,
automotive, and medical industries,
the QNX Neutrino RTOS Secure Kernel
provides assured levels of portability, interoperability,
and security.
