BittWare (Concord, NH) has released the GX-AMC (GXAM) FPGA-only board based on Altera Corporation’s high-density field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The Advanced Mezzanine Card (AdvancedMC) uses the Altera Stratix II GX FPGA for development and deployment of systems such as wireless infrastructure.

Every AMC port, aside from port 0, is connected to the Stratix II GX FPGA and BittWare’s ATLANTiS framework, allowing designers to determine exactly how to route the I/O, with a variety of protocols supported on 11 SerDes ports and eight LVDS ports. The GXAM includes a front-panel mezzanine site with 76 LVDS pairs and four SerDes, enabling designers to adapt the GXAM to their requirements. The Altera Stratix II GX FPGA provides up to 20 full-duplex, multi-gigabit transceivers supporting PCI Express, XAUI, Gigibit Ethernet, Serial RapidIO, SerialLite II, and other standards. Containing up to 132,540 equivalent LEs, over 6.7 Mbits of RAM, 63 DSP blocks, and 8 PLLs, the Stratix II GX FPGA facilitates all off-board I/O while providing communications routing and processing. Routing is achieved using BittWare’s ATLANTiS framework, which integrates the I/O peripherals and the FPGA.
