Panasonic Computer Solutions (Secaucus, NJ) has introduced two rugged Toughbook® computers: the CF-19 convertible tablet PC, and the CF- 30 clamshell notebook. ![]() The notebook and tablet are constructed of magnesium alloy and include shockmounted screens and hard drives. With battery life of about six hours, they are certified to the MIL-STD-810F standard, and tested to withstand drops, shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures. They are sealed and rated at IP54 for water and dust resistance. Other certifications include UL1604 Class 1/Div. 2. Touchscreens allow for ease of use in vehicle-mounted environments, and multiple wireless options such as WLAN, WWAN, GPS, and Bluetooth are available. Both computers are equipped with a cable lock slot, Trusted Platform Module (TPM v1.2) security chip, and feature optional fingerprint scanner.
